A new headline and About in two minutes
- 01
Say what you do and who for
One or two sentences in plain words. 'Fractional CMO for early-stage B2B SaaS, I build their first marketing engine' is plenty.
- 02
Add one result and your goal
A result or credential if you have one, and whether you want clients, a job or an audience. The goal changes how the About section ends.
- 03
Pick a headline
You get three options with different angles, each under LinkedIn's 220-character limit.
- 04
Fill in the blanks and paste
Replace any [highlighted] placeholders, then paste the headline and About into your LinkedIn profile.
What your headline and About need to do
The headline
It shows under your name on your profile, in search results and next to every comment you leave. A job title alone tells people what you are, not why they should care. The headlines that work say who you help and what changes for them, in words a stranger would understand.
The About section
LinkedIn shows about three lines before "see more", so the opening has to earn the click: the problem you solve or a specific claim, never "I am a passionate...". After that, who you help, how, the proof, and one clear next step.
- ✓Short paragraphs with blank lines between them.
- ✓Specific results beat adjectives. "Took two startups to $1M ARR" beats "results-driven".
- ✓End with what you want the reader to do: message you, book a call, follow.
- ✓Keep it under 2,600 characters, LinkedIn's limit. 150 to 300 words is plenty.
